Outside the United States borders we go! If you are moving to another country, Exodus can help. We utilize a long standing shipping network to transport your belongings just about anywhere in the world.

How Does it Work

When we pick up your belongings we will load them into the same container that will arrive at your destination. Your belongings will be taken to the east or west coast via railroad, one of our network’s trucks or an Exodus truck. Then the steamship company will take your container across the ocean to your destination port. At the destination port, our network agent will clear your container through the local customs. It is your choice if you want to pick it up at the port or have it delivered directly to the door of your new home.

While we can guarantee a local pick up date, we cannot guarantee a delivery date on international shipments. The average delivery takes between six and eight weeks from the date we have picked up your container to the date of delivery.

It is in your best interest to find out from the country’s consulate what you are allowed and not allowed to take into the country. Exodus cannot be responsible for any items that customs denies entry.

Cost

The cost of your move is determined by the cubic feet, or space, that your belongings will require as well as the weight of your shipment. Of course, additional factors include which country and which port you want your container delivered to. The customer is responsible for all fees, taxes, and port destination fees incurred when going through customs. At no charge to you we will have one of our experienced, courteous and knowledgeable estimators provide you with a free and accurate assessment of your move cost and review your move in great detail. This cost includes just about everything – the crew, the equipment, protection for your furniture, packing of all items, pick-up, and delivery (if you’ve requested this service). Our estimator will also confirm requested pick-up and shipping dates. Please note that packing, storage and valuation are additional.

Container Options

  • 4’ x 7’ x 7’ wood lift van that goes into an overseas metal container - 200 cubic feet
  • 20’ overseas metal container with 8’ height – 1000 cubic feet
  • 40’ overseas metal container with 8’ height – 2000 cubic feet
  • 40’ overseas metal container with 9’ height – 2320 cubic feet (when available)
  • 45’ overseas metal container – 2250 cubic feet (ideal for a vehicle) (when available)

What Happens the Day Before Your Move and During Your Move

  • Before your move, our dispatcher will call and confirm the details of your move and review any specific instructions that have been provided.
  • On the day of your move, the crew will arrive at the appointed time prepared and ready to complete the packing and loading of your belongings.
  • For all international moves we are required to professionally pack your items. If you have already completed some packing we are required to open every box to take a detailed inventory. We may need to complete the packing and inventorying the day before we load your belongings.
  • The floors, stairs and banisters are protected on origin. We protect all your furniture by wrapping it in shrink wrap and perhaps cardboard then securing it with packing tape.
  • Since ‘cubic feet’ refers to “air space,” we dismantle everything that we can, then strategically load your container - fitting everything in as snuggly as possible to protect your items and maximize the use of the space.
  • Once the container is loaded, we will make sure your belongings arrive safely and in a timely manner to the port of departure.
  • We will then keep in close communication with our shipping network to insure that your belongings arrive in good condition.
